Description:

Solvency II uniquely allows undertakings to assess their individual risk profile with internal models while requiring them to evaluate the ongoing compliance with the Solvency II framework.

EEA-wide comparative studies of internal models support the monitoring of this compliance and provide insight on the relative positioning of internal models in the single market and their development over time.

Internal Model Comparative Studies therefore contribute to EIOPA's objective of supervisory convergence regarding internal models under Solvency II in order to support policy holder protection by adequate levels of risk capital positions.

Through the life cycle of European wide comparative studies the EIOPA Project Groups are reaching out regularly to affected undertakings and other stakeholders in order to facilitate a productive conversation by providing and receiving feedback.

This presentation will shine a spot light on two comparative studies, which aim to compare Non-Life Underwriting Risk (NLCS 2020) and Diversification benefits (DivPG).
