The presentation covers evolution of the Area Yield Index crop insurance product in the Indian Market context. It will be covering the history of such products over the years in the Indian Market and through it, summarise or demonstrate how an Area Yield Index products needs to be implemented. It would surely cover typical shortcomings of the Area Index Crop product like the Basis Risk, Anti Selection and How technology can reduce some of the short comings. It also aims to give a balanced view of the PMFBY scheme (the latest crop insurance scheme in the Indian market) and evaluate a success criterion for such products.
