Our objective through this presentation is to highlight the lessons learned and the challenges of index-based agricultural microinsurance after about 10 years of study and implementation in West Africa. 

After a review of the regulations in this area, we will present some initiatives and some figures from the company Inclusive Guarantee, which is a pioneer in this field in sub-Saharan Africa. We will not fail to highlight the general structure of the premiums and the distribution models generally adopted by the players.  

Finally, we will suggest that there is a real opportunity to invest in Africa in this area, particularly by using digital technology.
