He enjoys leading teams to build predictive models and set assumptions in order to evaluate risk and financial uncertainty, provide business intelligence and to ensure accurate forecasting, all performed in a well-controlled environment. He feels passionate about the importance of transferring the results of complex analyses into actionable insights and clearly communicating to senior leaders to ensure they can have a meaningful impact on the business.  He works as Associate Director for Optum’s Revenue Projections and Insights (Risk Adjustment) team building predictive models to forecast revenue for his clients. This involves collaborating with team members across several geographical locations who have a wide variety of skill sets and cultural diversity.  In addition to working in healthcare risk adjustment, in previous roles, Shane has worked in pricing, product development and reporting actuarial roles for insurance companies writing life and disability products into European markets.  Shane is an active member of the SAI Data Analytics committee which promotes the use of the latest data analytics techniques within the actuarial profession.
