CRISP DM Talk
CRISP DM (cross-industry process for data mining. The CRISP-DM methodology provides a structured approach to planning a data mining project.)
The purpose of the planned talk is to provide a thorough understanding of process models in data science using CRISP DM as an exemplar, while briefly showcasing some previous projects (within the bounds of client confidentiality). This will include description of the main phases, strengths and weaknesses of CRISP DM and alternative process models/methodologies that all data science practitioners should be aware of.
Dr Greg Doyle has amassed a wealth of experience during his over 20 years experience lecturing in computing and has a strong software engineering background with expertise in Python, Java and C/C++ programming languages in addition to agile and other software development methodologies. Greg continues to research and has been published in the areas of computing science, spectroscopy and optical engineering, optoelectronics and fabrication. His current research interests are in computer gaming, ambient assisted living, software engineering, with particular emphasis on data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning . He continues to lecture, supervise MSc and PhD students and is the programme director for Institute of Technology Carlow's highly successful MSc in Data Science programme.
